Join our virtual parliamentary event on Tuesday 7th March at 3pm

Alex Tait

UK politics is suffering from a dishonesty crisis. Repeated mistruths and misrepresentations have led to the corruption of standards and the withering of basic ethics and honesty. This in turn has fuelled the escalating disengagement of the public from the political process.

This panel discussion will explore how to re-establish the primacy of honesty and truth in politics for the sake of democracy, those it represents, and those elected to serve it.

We will of course also be discussing the role regulation can play in preventing misleading electoral advertising as part of the solution.

The event is being put on by Reform Political Advertising and the APPG Compassion In Politics.

Speakers will include:

Lord Puttnam: Lord Puttnam, is a British film producer, educator, environmentalist, and former member of the House of Lords. He is a champion of media reform and the chair of Reform Political Advertising’s electoral advertising review panel.

Gina Miller: Gina is a business owner and activist who initiated the 2016 R (Miller) Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union court case against the British government over its authority to implement Brexit without approval from Parliament. In 2021 she founded the True and Fair party.

Jennifer Nadel: Jennifer is Co-Director of Compassion in Politics and Chair of the Global Compassion Coalition.

Debbie Abrahams MP (Chair): Debbie is Labour MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth and Co-Chair of the All-Party Group for Compassionate Politics.

We hope to see you there. You can apply to join the event on Compassion In Politics website here.
